It is geology that makes us understand Ischia: the largest of the Flegrean Islands is the product of incessant volcanic activity, thanks to which today it is dotted with thermal waters and magmatic rocks that protrude from the ground, puffs, fumaroles, hot sands. Already inhabited since the eighth century BC, fortified during the Middle Ages and reborn in the last two centuries thanks to the fame of its thermal establishments, Ischia attracts more and more visitors, due to the lower prices compared to nearby Capri, the many beaches and the elegant atmosphere and rustic at the same time. But Ischia is not just a place by the sea: in the center of the island stands the Epomeo, the highest peak, reachable in a few hours of excursion. Go all the way around the island, by car, bike or moped: only in this way will you be able to enjoy its jagged shape, sloping cliffs, landscapes. You will visit botanical gardens that seem to come out of a nineteenth-century novel and villages perched between land and sea.

The main attractions of Ischia: what to see
Aragonese castle
The Aragonese castle stands on an islet and dates back to the 5th century BC, but its name derives from the dynasty of Alfonso I of Aragon in the 15th century AD, who had the tunnel dug out of the rock which is still accessible today.
Cartaromana beach
Cartaromana beach is located in front of the islet of the Aragonese Castle. Here are the rocks of Sant'Anna and the Tower of Michelangelo. From the crystal clear waters springs of thermal water originate.
Guevara Tower
One of the symbols of Ischia, the Tower of Guevara (or of Michelangelo) dates back to the end of the 15th century. An important work of the Renaissance in Campania, it combines the essential aspect with its being a house-fortress.
The Baths of Sorgeto
In a crescent-shaped cliff there are natural pools with thermal water in the sea with a temperature of 37°.
English Beach
Close to the port, the English beach is a small beach with shallow waters, ideal for those who want to relax in a quiet place.
Sea Museum
The Sea Museum is located in the village of Ischia Ponte inside the Palazzo dell'Orologio. Divided into three floors, it tells the story of the Navy, through the display of objects from the daily life of fishermen and also from large sailing ships, as well as their technical equipment.
Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie in San Pietro
The church is located in Corso Colonna a few meters from the beach and has the particularity of having a curved façade, a dome covered with majolica and an elliptical interior.
Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta
The cathedral is the main religious building on the island. Of seventeenth-century origins, it has a very bright interior and contains works of art of considerable artistic value, among which a Catalan crucifix from the thirteenth century stands out.
Mirtina Pinewood Park
The Mirtina pine forest of Ischia boasts centuries-old and majestic trees. The widespread water vapor in the air comes from volcanic fumaroles, and creates a particular microclimate that has generated plains that grow here such as, for example, the "Papyrus of the fumaroles".
Aragonese bridge
Historic bridge from the Renaissance era that connects the island of Ischia to the islet where the Castle is located.
Royal Palace
The Royal Palace of Ischia is located in Ischia Porto in the central Piazza Antica Reggia. At the end of the 18th century the palace was bought by the Bourbons, it became a royal palace and the king commissioned the architect Carlo Vanvitelli to redesign the gardens.
Buceto aqueduct
Aqueduct from the end of the 16th century, 550 meters long and very reminiscent of the ancient Roman aqueducts.
Diocesan Museum
The Diocesan Museum of Ischia contains works of notable artistic quality: paintings, archaeological and paleo-Christian finds, liturgical furnishings, a notable library and a collection of religious-themed inlays
Church of Santa Maria del Soccorso
Positioned on a promontory that gives it a spectacular panorama, the Chiesa del Soccorso is dedicated to the Madonna della Neve and is a symbol of protection for Ischia

Volcanic beach with fumaroles that heat the sand and emit their characteristic steam jets into the air.
