Decorative Arts in the Room of Wonders
Auth: Salvatore Scarfone
In eight rooms located in the second floor of the Palace, you can find an exhibition of historical and artistic objects of different Decorative Arts genres, selected from the deposits of the Palace. Precious curtains of embroidered muslin, figured panels made of satin with silk threads and pastel paintings, even Neoclassical furnishings inspired by the patterns emerged from the ruins of Herculaneum and Pompeii, lamps and porcelain dinner services with “oriental” designs, this and much more are visible in a route inspired by the ancient idea of the Wunderkammer, “The room of wonders”, without an order set on the history of the artefacts that have been divided, far as possible, to genres.
